The best robotic pool cleaners in Australia
Quick answer: For most in-ground pools the best robotic pool cleaner is the Aiper Scuba S1 (2026), a cordless robot that cleans the floor, walls and waterline for $799 at Clark Rubber ($799.99 from Aiper). If you never want to charge a battery, buy the corded Dolphin S 1000 ($1,699). For pools up to 15 m, step up to the cordless Dolphin EON 120d ($2,299) or the corded S 3000.

How we picked: We compared these 8 picks on power, cleans, pool size and price, using maker specs, Australian retailer prices and owner reports. We haven't tested them hands-on yet, and maker claims are labelled as theirs. Commission never changes the order. Full method.
A robotic pool cleaner takes the vacuuming, and most of the wall brushing, off your weekend. The range in Australia now runs from a $238 floor robot to well over $3,000, and the price buys three things: how much of the pool it cleans, how big a pool it is rated for, and whether it runs on a cable or a battery. Prices below are from Bunnings, Clark Rubber, Pool and Spa Warehouse, Maytronics and Aiper on 18 October 2026; for the models also on Amazon Australia, check the current price on Amazon. We compared maker specifications, retailer listings and warranty terms; we have not run these robots in our own pool.
Robot, suction or pressure: what “automatic pool cleaner” means
Three kinds of machine get sold as automatic pool cleaners. A suction cleaner plugs into the skimmer box and is driven by your pool pump, so it only works while the pump runs and everything it collects goes into the pool filter. They are the cheapest kind: the Water TechniX Viper suction cleaner was $299.99 at Mr Pool Man on the day we checked. A pressure cleaner runs off the return side, usually with a booster pump. A robotic pool cleaner carries its own motors, its own filter basket and its own power, so it works with the pump off and the debris comes out in a basket you rinse under a tap.
Robots also climb. Most models here clean the walls and scrub the waterline, which suction cleaners mostly leave behind. Maytronics says its robots cut energy use by up to 83 percent compared with suction and pressure cleaners. The costs are the price, lifting the robot out, and emptying its basket after each run.
Corded or cordless
A corded robot takes power through a floating cable from a supply beside the pool. It finishes a full cycle every time and has no battery to age. The cable sets the pool size: the Dolphin S 1000 has 12 m of cable for pools up to 10 m, the S 3000 has 17 m with a swivel for pools up to 15 m.
A cordless robot runs on a battery. There is nothing to untangle, but every cycle is capped by the battery (two hours on the Niya Sonar F3, up to 4.5 hours on the Dolphin EON 120d), recharging takes hours (2.5 on the Hy-Clor i1, 3 to 3.5 on the Niya), and you lift a wet robot out to charge it. The cordless robotic pool cleaner guide goes through run times, charging and retrieval model by model.

How to size one
Makers rate robots three different ways, so convert before you compare. Dolphin and Niya give a pool length, Aiper gives an area and a length, and the Bunnings brands give litres. To get litres, multiply length by width by average depth in metres, then by 1,000. A 10 x 5 m pool averaging 1.5 m deep holds 75,000 litres: inside the Pozie Ripple Pro’s 80,000 L rating, but over the Hy-Clor i1’s 70,000 L. Buy with headroom, because a robot at the edge of its rating spends its last half hour on the far end.
Check two more things. If your pool has a tanning ledge, the Dolphin S 1000 and S 3000 clean ledges from 30 cm deep and the EON 120d from 20 cm. If it has a steep slope, the Hy-Clor i1 listing says it works best on slopes of 15 degrees or less.
The picks
The Aiper Scuba S1 (2026) is the one we would buy for a typical suburban in-ground pool. It cleans the floor, walls and waterline, carries a 180 micron basket plus a 3 micron insert for fine dust, and Aiper rates it for pools up to 150 m². It is $799 at Clark Rubber and $799.99 from Aiper, with a two-year warranty. Clark Rubber’s listing says it is not suitable for vinyl pools while Aiper’s own S1 spec sheet lists vinyl, so vinyl-lined pool owners should ask before buying.
The Dolphin S 1000 is the corded alternative for anyone who would rather never think about a battery. Maytronics lists a 2.5 hour cycle, step and ledge cleaning, a 5.5 L basket (Pool and Spa Warehouse listing) and a two-year warranty, for $1,699.
The Dolphin EON 120d is the premium cordless pick: up to 4.5 hours a charge, rated for pools up to 15 m, and a three-year warranty, for $2,299 at Maytronics or Clark Rubber. It weighs 12 kg, so lifting it out is a two-handed job.
The Niya Sonar F3 comes from Maytronics, the Dolphin company, at a budget price: floor, walls and waterline, a two-hour run time and a 10 m rating, $749 at Pool and Spa Warehouse. The Pozie Ripple Pro is the Bunnings equivalent at $699, with a three-hour run time and a two-year warranty on the Bunnings page.
For big pools, the Dolphin S 3000 pairs a 17 m swivel cable with a 15 m rating, a caddy and a three-year warranty for $2,699. At the cheap end, the Hy-Clor i1 cleans the floor only for $399, and the Aiper Scuba 800 is a $238 floor robot made for above-ground and flat-bottom pools.
Choosing between the two big brands? The Aiper vs Dolphin comparison covers price ladders, warranties and where each is sold.
Where to buy, and returns
Buy where the warranty is easiest to use. Maytronics sells Dolphin direct and through Clark Rubber and Amazon Australia, where its listings are sold by Maytronics Australia with 30-day change-of-mind returns. Aiper’s published list of authorised Australian sellers is its own website and store, Amazon Australia, Pool and Spa Warehouse, Clark Rubber and eBay, and its warranty excludes purchases from unauthorised resellers. On Amazon, the Aiper and Beatbot robots we checked are marked non-returnable for change of mind because of their lithium batteries; faults are still covered under the Australian Consumer Law.
The rest of the pool
A robot keeps the pool clean, not balanced or warm. If you are setting up from scratch, the salt water chlorinator guide, pool heat pump guide and solar pool cover guide cover the other three jobs, and a cover also means less debris for the robot to collect. The home page lists every guide.
The one trap
Buying on the biggest run-time number on the box. Cordless run times are often quoted for the most economical mode: Aiper lists the Scuba S1 at up to 180 minutes in its normal modes and longer only in Eco mode, and Beatbot quotes 4 hours on the floor but 3.5 hours on walls and waterline. Compare the cycle you will actually run against your pool’s size, not the headline figure. A robot rated for 10 m in a 14 m pool will finish its battery, or its cable, before it finishes the pool.

Frequently asked questions
Are robotic pool cleaners worth it?
For most in-ground pools, yes: a robot runs on its own power and filter, so it does not depend on the pool pump, and it scrubs the walls and waterline that suction cleaners mostly miss. Maytronics says its robots use up to 83 percent less energy than suction and pressure cleaners. The case is weakest for a small above-ground pool, where a $238 floor robot or a manual vacuum does the job.
Corded or cordless robotic pool cleaner: which is better?
Corded robots finish a full cycle every time and have no battery to replace, but you manage a cable. Cordless robots are easier to drop in and store, but each run is limited by the battery and you lift a wet robot out after it. For a large pool or heavy leaf load, corded is the safer buy.
What is the difference between a robotic and an automatic suction pool cleaner?
A suction cleaner connects to the skimmer and uses your pool pump, sending debris to the pool filter. A robot has its own motors, filter basket and power, so it works with the pump off. Suction cleaners are cheaper; robots clean walls and the waterline better.
What size robotic pool cleaner do I need?
Match the maker's rating to your pool, with headroom. Ratings come as length (Dolphin), area (Aiper) or litres (Bunnings brands). For litres, multiply length by width by average depth in metres and by 1,000: a 10 x 5 m pool averaging 1.5 m deep holds 75,000 litres.
Where can I buy a robotic pool cleaner in Australia?
Bunnings stocks Hy-Clor, Pozie and some Aiper models. Clark Rubber stocks Aiper and Dolphin, and Pool and Spa Warehouse stocks Aiper, Beatbot, Niya and some Dolphin models in store. Maytronics sells Dolphin and Niya direct, and Aiper and Maytronics both sell through their own Amazon Australia accounts.
